I am told by Robb supporters that I should vote against North for the following reasons:
He has lied to the American people.
He was involved in a major national scandal.
He involved the United States in an effort to restore democracy in a country despite the expressed opposition of the American people.
He avoided congressional intervention in this effort.
He will be an embarrassment if placed in public office.
Now, I don't necessarily agree with the accuracy of the reasons given, but which of these could not also be used to describe Clinton, the president to whom Chuck Robb has enthusiastically lent his support, both in public appearances and in his voting record? Robb's newly found self-righteousness is nothing more than a smoke screen, hiding the real issues facing Virginia and this nation.
My vote will be for North for the following reasons:
He will vote against federal protection for abortion as a ``last-chance'' birth-control method.
He will vote against special rights for homosexuals.
He will vote against big government.
He will vote for legislation that is pro-family.
He will vote for student-initiated school prayer.

On Nov. 8, all those in favor of more taxes and more government vote Chuck Robb and Norman Sisisky. All for lower taxes and less government vote Ollie North and George Sweet. Questions?

On June 4, much to the chagrin of the Washington Beltway establishment and the liberal news media, delegates to the Virginia State Republican Convention selected Lt. Col. Oliver North to be their standard bearer in this year's Senate race.
Ever since, the long disproved falsehoods and outright lies regarding his involvement with Iran-Contra continue to be repeated. The Big Lie Technique is alive and well. The mainstream print and broadcast media just don't get it, but Herr Goebels would be proud of them.
It is said that one is known by the company he keeps. The same can be said for the enemies he faces. The widespread success of Lt. Col. North's candidacy is indicative of a feeling among the people that if some Capitol Hill power brokers, many of the nation's newspapers and broadcast gurus like Tom Brokaw, Sam Donaldson and Dan Rather find his candidacy offensive, there must be something very good about him.

It looks as if the North/Coleman vote will be split, and Robb will be elected without a majority vote, just as Clinton was.
Sen. Robb supported President Clinton's views and policies, including socialized medicine, increased taxes, decreased national defense capabilities and taxpayer-funded abortions.
The choice is simple: Clinton/ Robb beliefs, or North's, which cut across the liberal Democratic agenda. I support Oliver North.
