PICKETT'S GOOD DEEDS

For those who need help dealing with a federal agency, and who want the problem taken care of expeditiously, I recommend presenting your story to Congressman Owen Pickett.

On two occasions I made simple requests to such an agency without receiving a satisfactory reply. After bringing this experience to the attention of Congressman Pickett's team, I got quick, satisfactory answers.

You can bet Congressman Pickett will get my vote.

According to your newspaper (Oct. 18), Owen Pickett is suported by a whopping 56 percent of women voters as opposed to 34 percent for Jim Chapman.

Pickett has been a consistent supporter of justice for long-term military wives in case of divorce. However, his concern for the welfare of women goes far beyond military wives. In 1991, Mr. Pickett joined the bipartisan Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues, founded as a legislative-service organization dedicated to promoting the interests of women. Equality for women means, first and foremost, equal pay, equal presence and equal opportunity. I urge women to remember the old saw, ``If it ain't broke, don't fix it.''

Pickett, who has proved himself with deeds, deserves continued support. I dismiss Chapman as ``just another pretty (inexperienced) face.''
