ROBB'S A WARRIOR FOR VIRGINIA

We need Sen. Charles Robb, not Oliver North, to represent us in Congress.

If he lied to Congress, North will lie to the people of America.

Let us keep Virginia growing by voting to retain Robb in office, Nov. 8, 1994.

We've heard a lot about the Senate candidates' records of service in the military, but we haven't heard enough about their records of service since then.

I'm not sure there's much to know about Oliver North's work in Virginia. But Chuck Robb has spent 17 years in the service of our state.

Consider education. With Gov. Robb's leadership, school standards were toughened and scores improved - but taxes didn't go up to pay for it. The children of Virginia felt the difference, but their parents' pocketbooks didn't.

Since joining the Senate, Robb has maintained his commitment to education. He's helped start a new national-service program that enables young people to help our country and help pay for college at once. He's reformed student loans to make them easier to get. And all the while, he's supported spending cuts that will reduce the deficit by $500 billion.

This Senate race shouldn't be about who was a better Marine. It should be about who will do most to serve Virginia. The answer is clear: Sen. Chuck Robb has earned a second term.

In March 1985, a bill was going through the Virginia General Assembly that could have spelled disaster for public beaches in our city.

A developer was trying to gain control of beaches on the Bay. To the relief of city officials and local members of the legislature, one man stood in the way of this bill in the end - Gov. Charles S. Robb. He vetoed the bill.

Robb looked out for us then and continues to do so now as senator. To put Oliver North in a senator's seat would be crazy.

Sen. Robb deserves another term.
