The Children's Museum of Virginia is on schedule to open on

Saturday, Dec. 10., at 221 High St. During an informal tour, city

employee Lillian Haythe tries out the static electricity display. At

right, an inflated globe is suspended over a column of air, one of

more than 60 interactive exhibits being set up. Admission will be $3

with group rates and other discounts available. Hours of operation

will be seven days a week 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with extended hours

on Friday, when the museum will stay open until 9 p.m. Expansion

plans for the 27,000-square-foot facility will make it, at 60,000

square feet, the largest children's museum in the state.
