Mary Estelle Fender Bateman, 92, formerly of Norfolk, died Oct. 29, 1994, in a Charlotte, N.C., hospital.
Mrs. Bateman was born in Branchville, S.C., the widow of McLeod Mosley Bateman, a member of St. John's Baptist Church of Charlotte, N.C., Cape Henry Women's Club of Virginia Beach, Order of the Eastern Star and Virginia Beach Garden Club. She was a former charter member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, Virginia Beach.
Survivors include a sister, Beulah F. Bolen of Charlotte, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Cheryl A. Bateman of Norfolk.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, by the Rev. Robert F. Pittman, III. The family will receive friends at Cox Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.
