Annie Ruth Hales, 87, of the 400 block of N. Lynnhaven Road, died Oct. 31, 1994, in her home.
She was a native of Smithfield, N.C., and was a registered nurse at Eastern State Sanitarium in Wilson, N.C., from 1927 to 1979. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilson, N.C., the Presbyterian Women's Association, and the Altrussa Club. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the Blood Mobile and the Meals on Wheels Program.
She is survived by a brother, Carl T. Hales of Norfolk; two nieces, Carleen H. Huling of Virginia Beach and Ellen H. Cowart of Lottsburg, Va.; and a nephew, Richard Wood of Virginia Beach.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Dr. W. Emmett M. Diggs and the Rev. James L. Mahaffey. Cox Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
