A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Servester Lee Twine, 18, from Route 2 in Hertford, in connection with the shooting of an Elizabeth City man last week.
Twine is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, said Capt. W.O. Leary of the Elizabeth City Police Department.
Damon S. Byrd, 20, was shot in the neck and right buttock Oct. 22 at Sheep-Harney Elementary School. He was listed in stable condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Monday. Twine was identified after interviews with Byrd and witnesses, Leary said.
Police have asked anyone with knowledge of the shooting or Twine's whereabouts to call the Police Department at (919) 335-4321 or the crime line at (919) 335-5555.
