`RIGHT' SHOULD ABANDON `PATHOLOGICAL LIAR'

It's time for the many good people within the ranks of the ``religious right'' to stand up and renounce group support for Oliver North's run for the U.S. Senate.

I say, as a disappointed representative, that a mistake was made; let's rectify it.

The evidence is so overwhelming and undeniable: Ollie is, among other things, an unstable, pathological liar.

Even to disregard Iran-Contra is to be left with a string of fabrications growing almost daily.

To continue blind support for Ollie is, in my opinion, demonstrating total disregard for the ethical and moral values taught in the Bible.

Cast aside, if you choose, the numerous lies coming from his camp, and we're left with a man who shows brazen contempt for our Constitution.

Having been warned by Ollie's former associates about his disregard for rules and authority, consider the possible consequence of electing a majority of like-minded despotic individuals to Congress. Shades of totalitarianism!

This is the North program: Attack the media, control access to public figures, restrict reading material, shun open unrestricted debate and public forum, voice disrespect for the presidency, vow to reshape Congress in his own image, aid and comfort the enemies of democracy by casting doubt on our ability to field a strong military, support those who would take away the individual rights of certain segments of the citizenry, capitalize on fear and ``popular'' concerns by blaming ``others'' for our problems.

Bottom line? One major candidate, Robb, has acknowledged and asked forgiveness for past indulgences and lapses of good judgment, while North has yet to express remorse for his moral failures.

``Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus,'' but it ain't Ollie North.
