The Navy awarded Newport News Shipbuilding an $81.9 million contract for overhaul of the aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower and for drydock work done on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt. Most of the money will be spent on preparation for a major overhaul of the Eisenhower scheduled for fiscal 1995. That work also is scheduled for Newport News Shipbuilding, the only shipyard in the nation where aircraft carriers are built. Both the Eisenhower and Roosevelt are nuclear-powered Nimitz-class ships based in Norfolk. by CNB
