WE NEED PICKETT TO CONTINUE TO SERVE

If, as some claim, this congressional race is a referendum on health-care reform, Owen Pickett deserves our vote. He believes in true health-care reform, but he does not believe the Clinton plan is the way to go.

Pickett understands the need for reform, but he also understands that major reform of this large portion of federal spending is not the proper fiscal approach. Let's send him back to Congress to continue working on this and other problems.

I intend to vote to send Owen Pickett back to Congress because he believes in a real balanced-budget amendment.

The Republicans claim that they will vote for such an amendment in their contract for America but have never put forward a real balanced-budget amendment.

Owen Pickett has supported and advanced bills to balance the federal budget without allowing continued deficit spending and without loopholes that would allow spending on a whim. Owen Pickett is the kind of fiscal conservative that we need.

Owen Pickett, - along with Norman Sisisky and John Warner - has been directly responsible for keeping the naval bases, particularly Oceana, open and in Hampton Roads. A vote for Mr. Pickett is a vote for the only pro-Navy candidate running in the 2nd District. It is a vote for keeping your business, your job and supporting your family.

Mr. Pickett comes from a conservative Judeo-Christian background and qualifies as the family-values candidate. His opponent's extremist views and elitist background disqualify him from representing the hard-working taxpayers of the 2nd District.
