Walt Disney Co. has paid Prince William County $261,000 for expenses the county incurred from the failed plan to build a theme park near Haymarket, but the county wants $398,000 more.
After receiving a final payment Friday from Disney on the $261,000 expense, the county's supervisors voted 7-1 on Tuesday to send another bill.
County officials said the $398,000 is needed to cover costs involved with studying the Disney's America park proposal and to fight project-related lawsuits.
Disney, which has abandoned the plan to build the park in the county, paid the $261,000 for rezoning fees and other expenses related to its application.
Disney's America President Dana Nottingham said the company considers the matter closed.
``We are confident that we have fully complied with the letter and the spirit of all our obligations,'' Nottingham wrote in a letter to County Executive Jim Mullen.
Mullen said Disney has a moral responsibility to pay the added $398,000.
``Are they required to pay it by law?'' he said. ``No, they aren't.''
