ADMIRALS-GREENSBORO ON HTS ON NOV. 12

Home Team Sports will televise the Hampton Roads-Greensboro hockey game Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. from the Greensboro Coliseum. It will be the first appearance for Hampton Roads on HTS, which reaches nearly 3 million homes in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Washington, D.C.

The game will also be made available to Prime Network, HTS's national cable network that reaches all of the nation's major markets. It isn't known yet how many Prime affiliates will carry the game.

HTS is scheduling minor league hockey in place of Washington Capitals contests. As the NHL lockout continues, the list of ECHL games on TV will grow.

``This is great exposure for the league and for the Admirals,'' Admirals president Blake Cullen said. ``I'm hopeful this won't be our only appearance on HTS.''

Admirals coach John Brophy says he'd like HTS to televise an Admirals' home game.

``I'd like people out there to have the chance to see our building and our fans,'' he said.

Cullen is paying part of the the production costs, but can recoup his losses by selling TV advertising time.

Cullen has also committed to paying part of the production costs for the Admirals-Columbus game Feb. 26 in Columbus. The game will be televised in central Ohio, but Cullen has so far yet to find a local station to pick up the game.

NOT PICKY: Brendan Curley came off the ice with a bloody mouth after taking a stick to the head during Tuesday's 5-4 victory over Raleigh. He was left with a fat upper lip, swollen about twice its normal size.

When a reporter asked how he was feeling, Curley replied: ``Well, I'm gonna have a hard time picking my nose.''

There was no followup question.

PLAYER MATTERS: Martin Laitre, waived by the Admirals last Saturday, has been claimed by the Roanoke Express.

Cory Paterson, who was claimed by the Admirals on waivers from Wheeling, has been returned to Wheeling.

Paterson failed to report to the Admirals after being claimed on Saturday. He lives in Wheeling year-round and told Cullne he wants only to play there.

When Wheeling made room on its roster for him, Cullen obliged.

``The purpose of this league is not to prevent young men from playing hockey,'' Cullen said. ``We understand Cory's situation and this will allow him to continue playing.''

The Admirals have two more cuts to make from their 17-man roster. Colin Gregor becomes eligible on Nov. 10 and Dennis McEwen, out with an ankle injury, should be returned to the roster within 10 days.

McEwen skated for the first time in five days Wednesday. ``The ankle was blown up like a balloon, but it's much better,'' he said.

FRONT-OFFICE MATTERS: Cullen has done some shuffling in his front office. Amy Dyches, a public relations assistant for the past year, has been promoted to director of publicity.

Debbie DeVoe, director of public relations and promotions and a member of the front-office staff since the Admirals' first season, will retain her title and become director of game day operations.

Anna Shin, with the Admirals for a year, has been named office manager. by CNB
