Henry C. Ellis, 73, of the 3000 block of Bray Road, died Nov. 3, 1994, in the Veterans Hospital, Hampton.
Mr. Ellis was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, and retired as public works director at Little Creek Amphibious Base after 38 years. He was a charter member and elder of Kings Grant Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Virginia Beach Masonic Lodge (NU)274, AF & AM; Norfolk Royal Arch Chapter (NU)1; Grice Commandery, Knights Templar (NU)16; Khedive Temple of the Shrine AAONMS; emeritus member of the Arab Patrol of Khedive Temple; past worthy patron of the Virginia Beach Chapter (NU)75, Order of Eastern Star; and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Ellis; two sons, Charles C. Ellis of Spokane, Wash. and Keith P. Ellis of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Verna E. Mirgon of Ottumwa, Iowa and Charlotte Reneau of Portland, Ore.; three brothers, James Porter, John Porter and Tom Porter, all of Portland; and four grandchildren, Dianne, Steven, Kimberly and John.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Kings Grant Presbyterian Church, 745 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach, by Dr. Brian Dill. Burial with full military honors and Masonic rites will be in Hampton National Cemetery. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.
