Willard W. Mapes Jr., 58, of the 1700 Block of Skyline Drive, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1994 in a local hospital.
Mr. Mapes, a security supervisor since 1975 at Norfolk General Hospital, was a petty officer 1st class who retired from the U. S. Navy in 1975 after 20 years of service.
Mr. Mapes was born in Butler, Ohio. He was a member of Burrows Memorial Baptist Church and Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 60.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes I. Mapes; one daughter, Ellen Warrick of Norfolk; one son, Donald Nagy of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Arlene Shilling of Massillon, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tammy and Jon Warrick and Terry Drumheller, all of Norfolk, Sherry and Barbara Nagy of Columbia, S.C.; two great-grandchildren; a nephew, Ken Peterson of Akron, Ohio; and a niece, Lindia Mikutel of Massillon, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, 1994, at 11 a.m., the Rev. Don Harris presiding. A graveside service will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements. The family was at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 8 p.m.
