MAURICE G. EDMONDS

Maurice G. Edmonds, son of Mrs. Aurelia V. Edmonds and the late William H. Edmonds, departed this life in Fairfax, Va., on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1994.

Maurice was born in Norfolk on Nov. 6, 1956. He joined Mount Hermon Baptist Temple, Portsmouth, at an early age and was a member of the Youth Usher Board. He was educated in the Portsmouth public school system and completed studies in medical technology, obtaining a B.S. degree from Old Dominion University in 1980. While attending Old Dominion University, he was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a second lieutenant upon graduating.

He was employed at Georgetown Hospital as chief technologist in the Chemistry Department.

Maurice was a devoted son. In addition to his mother, he leaves to mourn his sister, Vivian D. Franks of Portsmouth; brother-in-law, Maurice J. Franks of Portsmouth; nephew, Maurice J. Medley-Franks of Portsmouth; maternal grandmother, Martha Webb of Louisburg, N.C.; two aunts, Doris L. Williams of Portsmouth and Mittie Webb of Raleigh, N.C.; an uncle, James E. Williams; a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and very dear friends, Gloria Pugh of Fairfax, Va., and Andrew Green of Washington, D.C.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, in Corprew Funeral Home by the Rev I.S. Waters. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Viewing will begin at noon Sunday in the funeral home. The family will receive friends at 1005 Horne Ave., Portsmouth.
