Joseph Romero Hootman, 55, of the 4900 block of Erskine St., died Nov. 3, 1994, in Virginia Beach.
Mr. Hootman was born in Coshocton, Ohio. He was a computer specialist in civil service, member of Haygood United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, retired from the Navy as a data processing chief after 22 years and was a veteran of Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Mary F. Hootman; two daughters, Valorie Jo Hootman and Christy Jo Hootman of Virginia Beach; two sons, Joseph Wayne Hootman of Columbia, S.C., and Michael Joseph Hootman of Virginia Beach; his mother, Margery Ellen Eick of Coshocton, Ohio; a sister, Judith Ann Hootman of Texas; a brother, Jeffery Lynn Hootman of Idaho; and two grandchildren, Joseph Wayne Hootman II and Joshua William Hootman.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by Chaplain Ernest Poe. The family will be at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 2 to 3 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Friends are invited to join the family Monday morning at 577 Lavender Lane to proceed to the cemetery.
