Martin VanBuren Horne, Jr., 59, of the 3100 block of Kenelm Drive, a retired truck driver, died Nov. 4, 1994, in Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
Mr. Horne was born in Anson County, N.C. He retired from the Navy and Ty Pruitt Trucking, was a member of Brent-Lox Baptist Church in Chesapeake, a Navy veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, China Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device; Vietnam Service Medal with FMF combat Insignia with Bronze Star and four Good Conduct Medals. He was a P.O.W. in Korea and was wounded in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Carole S. Davis; two daughters, Mrs. Cindy Rawls of Norfolk and Mrs. Terry Coleman of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Paul M. Horne of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. James Wolfcale. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Va., with military honors. The family will be at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Atlantic Shores Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will be at 45 King George Quay, Chesapeake.
