CHESAPEAKE
Since early summer, there have been 85 larcenies from vehicles in the Western Branch area.
The crimes are being committed in the early morning hours. The thieves are targeting electronic equipment, such as car stereos, cellular phones, speakers and miscellaneous items in the vehicles.
One way to make a thief stand out when he tries to hawk stolen property is to engrave your Social Security number or name on all electronic equipment and personal items. If police stop a thief who has equipment with your name on it, you'll get it back sooner and police will prosecute more quickly.
