PAISLEY'S PITCH

Why am I not surprised that as soon as serious efforts are under way to resolve the senseless violence in Ireland, who should again wash up on our shore with his peculiar brand of Christianity but the Rev. Ian Paisley?

Can it be that he has lost his constituency and must now pander to the steadfast few whom the Tabernacle Baptist Church is able to serve up to him?

He talks of ``his people,'' but if he looks closely, he will find them around the bargaining table with Sinn Fein, the IRA and British Prime Minister John Major. Their efforts deserve our prayers and encouragement. Ian Paisley's rabble-rousing is not welcome.
