Arthur Crumpler Whitehead, 77, a resident of Jerusalem Plank Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 1994, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.
Born in Southampton County, Va., he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Newville Baptist Church and was the son of the late Augustus Crumpler and Margie Vann Whitehead.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Garris Whitehead; a daughter, Ann W. Parker of Wakefield; a son, Arthur Garry Whitehead of Waverly; a sister, Irene W. Smith of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Warner Vann Whitehead of Branchville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Whitehead was predeceased by two sons, William C. Whitehead and James Mack Whitehead.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Ron E. Sowers. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Newville Baptist Church Building Fund, 7710 Beef Steak Road, Waverly, Va. 23890, or Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad.
