NORFOLK COUNCIL ACTIONS

These are the actions from Tuesday's City Council meeting in Norfolk. All members were present except Mason C. Andrews. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were unanimous. CONSENT AGENDA

The recommendation of the city planning commission on the application of Gary Rosso for a change of zoning from R-8 (One Family) to PDR (Planned Development/Residential) on Rosso Court.

Recommended action: authorize city clerk to advertise for a public hearing Nov. 29.

The recommendation of the city planning commission on the application of Norfolk Collegiate School, by Howard E. Gordon, to amend a portion of The General Plan of Norfolk, 1992, from high-density residential (HR) to education (E).

Recommended action: authorize city clerk to advertise for a public hearing Nov. 29.

The recommendation of the city planning commission on the application of Norfolk Collegiate School for a change of zoning from PDR-6 (Planned Development) to conditional IN-1 (Institutional) at 107-201 Suburban Parkway.

Recommended action: authorize city clerk to advertise for a Nov. 29 hearing.

The recommendation of the city planning commission on the application of the Flowers Baking Co. of Norfolk Inc. to close portions of May Avenue, Corprew Avenue, Cecelia Street and Baxter Street.

Recommended action: authorize city clerk to advertise for a public hearing Nov. 22. REGULAR AGENDA

An ordinance granting a special exception to conduct an automobile repair business at 6567 Tidewater Drive.

An ordinance granting a special exception for off-lot parking at 175 W. Government Ave.

An ordinance authorizing the operation of a religious institution at 145 Dupre Ave.

An ordinance approving the terms and conditions and authorizing the execution of an agreement between the city and the Virginia Zoological Society for the design and construction of a gift shop expansion at Virginia Zoological Park in Norfolk and accepting the donation by the Virginia Zoological Society to the city of design services and $50,000 for construction of the gift shop expansion.

An ordinance accepting a title III-F services grant for a walking/exercise program for senior adults and appropriating the grant funds.

An ordinance to change the name of that portion of Merrimac Avenue extending from I-264 to the Elizabeth River to Ballentine Boulevard.

An ordinance approving the terms and conditions and authorizing the execution of an agreement between the city and the Virginia Zoological Society for the design and construction of amphitheatre modifications at Virginia Zoological Park in Norfolk, authorizing the expenditure of $60,000 in city funds heretofore appropriated and appropriating $60,000 in Virginia Zoological Society funds for the project.

A resolution approving the Virginia Zoological Park master plan.

An ordinance approving a right-of-way agreement with Virginia Electric and Power Co.

A resolution appointing two persons to the Norfolk Industrial Development Authority for certain terms.

Section 1: That the following persons are hereby appointed to the Norfolk Industrial Development Authority: Kenneth C. Alexander for a term beginning Nov. 9 and expiring Sept. 4, 1997, which is the unexpired term of Junius P. Fulton, resigned. George W. Bryan for a term beginning Nov. 9 and expiring Sept. 4, 1998.

Section 2: That this resolution shall be in effect from and after its adoption.
