Harold Brooks Steadman, 77, of the 3500 block of Westminster Ave., died at his residence on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 1994.
He was born in Asheville, N.C., son of the late Frank and Eva Mae Brooks Steadman. He was the husband of Dorothy Davis Steadman, who survives. He was a veteran with the Navy Department. Mr. Steadman was the former owner and operator of Steadman's Fine Foods, which was located on Colley Ave. in the Ghent section of Norfolk. After closing the restaurant, Mr. Steadman worked with Norshipco until his retirement. He was a member of the Corinthian Masonic Lodge (NU)266.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Dr. Robert B. Steadman, and daughter-in-law, Susan H. Steadman of Richmond; a brother, Frank Steadman of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Charles Brooks Steadman, Robert Grant Steadman and Caroline Frances Steadman, all of Richmond.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Advent at 11:15 a.m. Saturday with Father Macon Walton officiating. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends at the home of the wife in the 9300 block of Sturgis St., Norfolk. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 101 W. Plume St., Norfolk, Va. 23510, or the Diabetes Institute of Norfolk, 855 W. Brambleton Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23510. Twiford's Funeral Home, Ghent Chapel, Norfolk, is in charge of arrangements.
