Anita Harmon Copeland, 33, of the 6600 block of Nuttal Ave., died Nov. 6, 1994, in Walter Reid Army Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Copeland, born in Portsmouth, was a teachers' aid in Wainwright, Alaska; member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Bel Air, Md.; former member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Portsmouth; Hospitality Committee and Youth Choir; and former member, New Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include a loving, caring, devoted husband, Gregory H. Copeland; a daughter, Jessica P. Copeland, and a son, Justin R. Copeland, both of Edgewood, Md.; her mother, Mary A. Williams of Portsmouth; a sister, Brenda H. Cannon of Chesapeake; four brothers, Willie D. Jones of Portsmouth, Clarence Williams Jr. of Chesapeake and Floyd A. Williams and Anthony Olds, both of Virginia Beach; four aunts, Margaret McDaniel, Beatrice Downs, Edna McNeal and Pauline Trotter, all of Portsmouth; four uncles, David McDaniel Sr., Robert Downs and Herman Mitchell, all of Portsmouth, and Wayland Harmon of Washington, D.C.; two brothers-in-law, Otis Cannon Jr., of Chesapeake and Darnell Copeland of Portsmouth; a sister-in-law, Ann Copeland; father and mother-in-law, Mr. Robert Copeland and Mrs. Florence Copeland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. M.L. Blount. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 9:45 a.m. Saturday. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The family will be at 3009 King Richard Way, Chesapeake, and will assemble there for the funeral.
