MAN KILLED BY A HIT AND RUN

A 40-year-old man was on his way home from a grocery store when he was killed by a hit-and-run driver as he walked along Olde Towne road early Friday, state police said.

Junious E. Cowles was found just before 1 a.m. on the side of the road by passers-by, said Tammy Van Dame of the state police. Witnesses said they saw Cowles leave a Food Lion store and head home just before the mishap occurred.

Police are looking for a 1986 two-door light Cutlass. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the state police.
