Why do people have to be forced to do the right thing?
An attorney for Ebony Showcase, closed by injunction last month after a fracas that involved gunshots and a stabbing, told Circuit Court Judge Cleaves Manning that investors are working on ways to operate in a less volatile manner.
If the investors had taken a more active role months ago, when the problems at the club first surfaced, the neighbors would have been spared stress and the club spared losses.
Instead, the club continued to operate in a manner that not only infringed the lives of nearby residents, but also endangered the safety of its own patrons and cost this city money it should not have to spend to keep the peace.
Manning said he will fashion a court order to keep the business open and that is as it should be. But the investors must keep the club in compliance with the terms of that order. by CNB
