Sarah N. Broughton, 79, of the 200 block of Filbert St., departed this life Nov. 11, 1994.
She was born in Statesville, N.C., and was a member of New Mount Zion A.M.E. Church. She was Past Worthy Counsellor of Priscilla Court (NU)292, Order of Courts of Calanthe, President of the Pastor Club, and Treasurer of Nellie B. Wyatt Missionary Society for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of the Senior Choir and past member of the Blazers Social Club.
Survivors include her husband, James P. Broughton; three sisters, Helen Brown and Charlotte Bolds of Statesville, N.C., and Ethel Eason of New York City; four grandchildren, Sylvia Nichols-Davis of Virginia Beach, Beverley Coardes of Norfolk, Wayne L. Nichols and Samuel L. Nichols, Jr. of Statesville; nine great-grandchildren and a host of relatives.
A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday at New Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church by the Rev. James G. Smith. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
