Rev. Douglas Tyree Williams, of 202 Poplar Ave., an associate minister of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, died Nov. 10, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.
Douglas was born in Norfolk. He attended the Norfolk public schools, Gatewood Elementary School, Lake Taylor Jr. and Sr. High schools where he graduated ``President'' of his class. He furthered his studies in Richmond at Va. Union University and received a certificate of completion for his work in the field of ``Crime and Disruptive Behavior'' at the University of Miami. His accomplishments include: Appointment to the Congressional Black Caucus to the National Youth Round Table, participation in the Energy Conservation Study conducted by Va. Union Univeristy, assisted in the coordination of the ``March on Washington 83'' as well as Operation Push, 21st Century Strategist in Chicago Illinois and numerous honors and achievements for his work in the ministorial field.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Beulah Williams; 4 sisters, Michele Donaldson, Gwendell Cargill, Sharon Midgette, and Pamela Williams all of Norfolk, Va.; 3 brothers, George Williams, Terry Williams and Barry Williams of Norfolk, Va.; 3 brothers-in-law, Lavorn Donaldson, James Cargill and Kenneth Midgette; One cousin like a brother, George Moore; 3 great-uncles, Lawrence Walker, Charlie Darden and John Griffin; 2 nieces; 5 nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk, by Dr. I. Joseph Williams. Metropolitan Funeral Service is handling arrangements. Family and friends will assemble at 202 Poplar Ave. (Norfolk) at noon Tuesday for funeral processional to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
