Mary Florence Sawyer Daniel, 79, of the 300 block of Allen Road, a retired teacher, died Nov. 12, 1994, in Portsmouth.
Mrs. Daniel was born in Camden County, N.C. She had retired from Portsmouth City Schools in 1978 after 22 years. She was a member of Cradock Baptist Church and was past president of W.M.U. She was also a member of the Cradock Music Club and Cradock Womens Club. She was a 1937 graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C.
Survivors include her husband, Addison G. Daniel; two daughters, Florence D. Jamerson of Fredericksburg, Va., and Pennie D. Fulmer of Lexington, N.C.; a son, Addison G. Daniel III of Lynchburg, Va.; six sisters, Zita Baird of Dover, Del., Maude Laird of Kitty Hawk, N.C., Edna Ripley of Whispering Pines, N.C., Carolyn Alexander of Greenville, S.C., Willa Williams of Chesapeake and Iredell Forbes of Riddle, N.C.; three brothers, Brantley Sawyer and Henry Sawyer, both of Camden, N.C., and Walter Sawyer of Raleigh, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cradock Baptist Church by Dr. David R. Denny. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m.
