Doris Hunter Saunders, 70, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 1994, at home.
Mrs. Saunders was born in Hobbsville, N.C., and was a member of Joppa Baptist Church there. She also attended New Middle Swamp Baptist Church, Corapeake, where she sang in the Senior Choir. She was very active in her community, where she served as voter registrar and volunteered her time in the Sunbury Elementary Schools.
Survivors include her husband, Abram Saunders of the home; six sons, Ricky, Dale, Anthony, Quincy, Abb Saunders, all of Gates County, Barry Saunders of Alexandria, Va.; and one daughter, Stacey Pope, also of Alexandria. Others left to cherish her memory include one sister, Annie Knight of Hampton, Va.; three daughters-in-law,; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted today at 1 p.m. in New Middle Swamp Baptist Church, Corapeake, N.C. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Creecy-Creecy Funeral Home of Gatesville is in charge of arrangements.
