VICTOR S. MITCHELL

Victor S. Mitchell, 77, a retired supervisor, died Nov. 13, 1994, at his home in Georgetown, Washington, D.C.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Aulander, N.C., and was a former resident of Bethesda, Md. He was a member of Aulander Baptist Church. He moved to Washington in 1940 and was an employee of the federal government, where he served in administrative and supervisory positions at the former Atomic Energy Commission, the forerunner to the Department of Energy, from 1947 until his retirement in 1972. During World War II, he joined the Navy and served from 1942 to 1946 in the office of Naval Intelligence in Washington, D.C., and in Martinique in the French West Indies.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Donna R. Mitchell of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Alice M. Erickson of Durham, N.C.; three nephews and a niece, all of North Carolina.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Aulander Cemetery, Aulander, N.C, by the Rev. Robbie Best and the Rev. Gary Glasgow. Following the services, friends and family will be received at a reception luncheon at the Ramada Inn, Ahoskie, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of D.C., 1325 Massachusetts Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20005, or to the Aulander Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 193, Aulander, N.C. 27805. Garrett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
