ADALINE E. SAWYER

Adaline E. Sawyer, 69, of the 2800 block of Arcadia Ave., died Nov. 14, 1994, in her home.

Mrs. Sawyer was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of Charles H. Sawyer. She was a former member of Emanuel AME Church of Portsmouth.

Survivors include two sons, Jerome Carr of San Diego, Calif., and Melvin Carr of Portsmouth; two sisters, Helen T. Pope and Mary T. Brown, both of Portsmouth; two brothers, Richard A. Todd of Portsmouth and Morris L. Todd of Olivette, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey H. Carr and Michael Carr, both of Portsmouth, Kevin Carr of the U.S. Army and Kenneth Carr of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Norway; a daughter-in-law, Juanita Carr of Portsmouth; and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Corprew Funeral Home by the Rev. Theodore Myrick. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family will be at the home of her sister, Helen T. Pope, 1911 Effingham St., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
