Hope Lamont Williams, 75, beloved husband of Betty Barnes Williams, departed this life on Nov. 16, 1994.
He was the loving father of Richard Williams of Knotts Island, Janet Rose and her husband, Paul, of Moyock and Molly Brite and her husband, David, of Elizabeth City.
Hope was the proud grandfather of Kelly and Sarah Williams of Knotts Island, Clay and Casey Brite of Elizabeth City and Tyler Rose of Moyock. He was predeceased by one grandson, Zachary Rose. Hope is also survived by a sister, Mardell Bonney, and a brother, Elliott Williams Jr., both of Virginia Beach; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Hope was a native of Knotts Island, a member of the Knotts Island Ruritans and Knotts Island United Methodist Church. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and retired from NAS Oceana in 1969 following 30 years of federal service.
A funeral will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in Knotts Island United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Knotts Island Cemetery. Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, is in charge of arrangements. The family will be at the residence.
