FRYDERYKA SYGAL

Fryderyka Sygal of the 7600 block of Bridgette Lane, died Nov. 18, 1994, in her residence.

Mrs. Sygal was a native of Lwow, Poland, and a resident of Norfolk for 30 years. She was the daughter of the late Leon Heustein and Salomea Verstandig, who were killed in Poland during World War II along with her brother and sister and all her relatives. She was the widow of Maurice Sygal, a Polish officer slain and buried in the Katyn Massacre in Kiev Forest in Starobielsk, U.S.S.R. She was a retired hospital administrator in Uganda.

Mrs. Sygal was a volunteer with Norfolk General Hospital and The American Red Cross.

Survivors include a loving daughter, Dana Cohen and her husband, William B. Cohen and a grandson, Michael, all of Norfolk.

A chapel service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, by Rabbi Michael E. Panitz and Cantor Isaac Danker. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
