WILLIAM L. MOSTELLER

William Leidy Mosteller, 54, of the 5100 block of Fallsmead Downs, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 17, 1994. He died in Portsmouth Naval Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Mosteller was born Nov. 18, 1939, in Williamsport, Pa. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service, and then worked as an engineer, most recently for Computer Dynamics Inc. He earned degrees in engineering from Penn State Univesity, the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., and George Washington University. Mr. Mosteller held professional engineer licenses in California and Virginia, and was a member of the engineering societies ASME, ASNE and ASHRAE.

He was an active member of Suburban Christian Church, serving over the years as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and a member of the Official Board, where he held various offices, including two terms as chairman.

Survivors include his wife, Dana Wilson Mosteller; one son, John Paul Mosteller of Blacksburg, Va.; one daughter, Kathryn Anne Mosteller of Concord, Calif.; a future son-in-law, Walter John Giebelhaus of Dallas, Texas; his parents, William Landis and Mary Esther Mosteller of Williamsport, Pa.; his mother-in-law, Julia Chester Wilson of Sunbury, Pa.; his sister and brother-in-law, Lynda Raye and William Joseph Gallagher, and their son, Ryan William Gallagher of Newtown, Pa.

A funeral will be conducted Monday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. in Suburban Christian Church by Pastor James A. Meads Jr. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will be at Kellum Funeral Home at Pleasant Hall in Kempsville, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., and he will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Monday.
