NORTH DIDN'T HAVE A PRAYER

It is nearly unbelievable that Oliver North's supporters can twist the results of the recent election so that Republican Sen. John Warner is responsible for North's defeat.

The reason Virginia did not elect a second Republican senator is wholly the responsibility of North's supporters. They nominated North. He had not a prayer of being elected from the beginning. Even with $20 million, he could not defeat a flawed Sen. Chuck Robb.

It seems North's supporters are bellyaching because they were unable to fool more Virginians. Their complaint seems to be that many Virginians can recognize near total lack of character.

Too, I believe Pat Robertson's gang prefers to lose an election rather than see one not of their choice nominated.

The Republicans should nominate by primary.
