Lawrence Melvin Lyons, ``Captain Lawrence,'' age 60, of the 600 block of Sandy Hook Road, Shawboro, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 1994.
He was a native of Suffolk and a tug boat captain. He was an associate member of the Chapel on the Sound in Hertford.
He was the son of the late James Colman Lyons and Rosa Etters Lyons Edwards and the husband of Sarah McGowan Lyons of the home. Besides his wife, Mr. Lyons is survived by a daughter, Cristy Lea Lyons of the home, and one son, Mack Colman Lyons of Norfolk; two half sisters and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Church Street, Elizabeth City, at 11 a.m. today with the Rev. Roland Cooper and the Rev. Jim Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Creswell, at 3 p.m.
