Walter Brown Tobler Jr., 45, a native of Portsmouth, died Nov. 20, 1994, in Roanoke.
Mr. Tobler was a Methodist and veteran of the U.S. Army. He excelled in football and baseball at Woodrow Wilson High School and went on to be signed with the Kansas City Royals. His professional ball career was cut short due to military service. He was then involved in Army football.
Survivors include two sisters, Patsy J. Jones of Portsmouth and Lois Wilson of Williamsburg; two nieces; one nephew; and several loving aunts and uncles.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. T.M. Frye. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today.
