Francis J. Formichella Jr., 71, of Virginia Beach, died Nov. 21, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Formichella was a native of Monaca, Pa. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Virginia Beach. He was a retired civil service officer in charge of the Department of Agriculture, APHIS, PPQ after 38 years of service. He was also a retired commander with the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Mr. Formichella was a 1950 graduate of Ohio State University with a master's degree in entomology. He was a member of the Reserve Officers Association and the Naval Reserve Association.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Elizabeth Formichella of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Elizabeth Anne Shiver and her husband, Randal E. Shiver of Huntsville, Ala., Katherine Lee Formichella and her husband, Gary M. Lawrence of Dallas; two grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Shiver and Matthew Evan Shiver.
A chapel service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, by Pastor Gary Lyerly. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
