There is one thing Lakeland girls basketball coach Stephanie Odom doesn't want her team to know about its opponent in the opening round of the Group AA state tournament.
R.E. Lee of Staunton hasn't lost a game this year.
The Cavaliers travel to Staunton tonight at 7:30 to take on Lee, the Region II champion (26-0).
``I think they would be intimidated,'' Odom said of her 17-5 Cavaliers, who lost 63-42 to Brunswick in the Region I final Saturday.
R.E. Lee went undefeated through the regular season last season, before being upset by Loudoun Valley in the region semifinal, and returned all of their starters, including twin guards Jenny and Beth Corbin, who were the top two vote-getters on the All-Valley District team.
Lakeland center Hope Knight, the Bay Rivers district's top vote-getter, knows it is do-or-die time.
``I'm ready for it,'' Knight said. ``I think everybody is now . . . in my four years, this is what we've been looking for, the chance to go all the way.'' by CNB
