Luby C. Cooke, 97, died Nov. 21, 1994 in Hampton General Hospital.
Mr. Cooke had resided with his daughter in Hampton for the past 10 years. He retired as section foreman of the State Highway Department in North Carolina with 32 years of service. Mr. Cooke was born in North Carolina. He was the widower of Maggie T. Cooke and a member of Elm City Baptist Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Mamie Flora of Hampton, Va., Louise Carter of Wilson, N.C., Marjorie Barnes of Virginia Beach, Va., Doris Owens and Pearline C. Miller, both of Richmond, Va., Bert Proctor of Charlotte, N.C.; five sons, R.L. Cooke and Luby T. Cooke, both of Richmond, Va., Staton Cooke and Melvin Cooke, both of Elm City, N.C., and Coy Cooke of Virginia Beach, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted Friday in Elm City Baptist Church at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at Joyner's Funeral Home, 726 South Tarbor St. in Wilson, N.C. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will follow the funeral home services at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Elm City, N.C.
