The Rev. Steven Lewis, right, loads frozen turkeys into his car
trunk monday at the Professional Club on S. Witchduck Road. The
turkeys will be given to needy families in Lewis' congregation at
Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Norfolk. About 125 turkeys were
donated by the Professional Club, a private nonprofit club dedicated
to helping underprivileged youths in Hampton Roads. The club,
founded about six months ago by Darrin Hyman, is similar to other
nightclubs except that members pay annual fees, which in turn are
used to help fund charitable efforts like the Thanksgiving turkey
giveaways.
