ROLAND C. ROSS SR.

Roland Charles ``Pop Ross'' Ross Sr., 62, of the 1200 block of Garden Drive, a retired letter carrier, died on Nov. 21, 1994 at home, peacefully.

Mr. Ross was a native of Norfolk and was retired after 25 years. He was a member of St. Paul AME Church, Newport News, a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School of Norfolk, attended Virginia State College, was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, a sergeant of Unit 101 Airborne Paratroopers, former member of the Peninsula Sportsman's Club, former member of the Dochiki Club and a member of the Masons.

Survivors include three daughters, Diane Campbell of Hampton, Rosalyn Tillman of Newport News, and Lynda Thomas of Hampton; two sons, Roland Charles Ross Jr. of Newport News and Edward O. Ross Sr. of Hampton; his mother, Addie S. Manning of Norfolk; an uncle, George Sweatt of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Trinity AME Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Linwood Daughtery. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will meet Friday at 10 a.m. at 1251 Garden Drive and proceed to Pretlow & Sons Funeral Home, Liberty St., Chesapeake, for a viewing with friends.
