Robert Henry White, age 99 1/2, died Nov. 23, 1994. Born on April 19, 1895, in Isle of Wight County, he is survived by his wife of 70 years, Emma Laetitia Boothe White, and had lived in Portsmouth since 1940. After 35 years with the Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company, he retired in 1960. He was a member of West End United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Boothe and Ruth R. White of Greensboro, N.C.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Anna Laetitia and Hugh O. Jones, Jr. of Roanoke, Va.; four grandchildren, their spouses and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. White of Isle of Wight County, and a number of nieces and nephews. Six sisters and 1 brother predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. by Rev. Robert E. Hawkins in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Interment will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 7-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Robert H. White Memorial Fund, West End United Methodist Church.
