Norfolk Southern Corp. has paid Conrail Inc. $4.5 million for 61 miles of railroad line between Valparaiso and Warsaw, Ind., the companies said. The acquisition by Norfolk Southern, based in Norfolk, includes the right to operate its freight trains on the connecting 44-mile segment between Warsaw and Fort Wayne. Conrail will continue to provide local service on the 44-mile segment. by CNB
