A family was left homeless Wednesday after clothing stored near a heater caught fire.
No one was hurt in the blaze that began just before 3 a.m. at 14 Connor Place.
Robert and Karen Barba and their three children, ages 15, 14 and 5, got out of the house safely after they awakened to the smell of smoke.
Four other children who lived in the house with the Barbas, all nieces and nephews, were not at home. They had gone to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with other relatives.
A spokesperson for the Fire Department said the fire spread quickly from the kitchen after some clothes stored in a box close to a gas heater ignited. It took about 40 minutes for firefighters to control the blaze.
The Barbas reportedly were staying with relatives. by CNB
