Nominating Oliver North over Jim Miller was strike No. 1. Jim Miller would have undoubtedly unseated Chuck Robb.
Loosing the black vote by such utterances as not being a ``cost effective'' effort is strike No. 2. Nominating Mike Farris or North over John Warner would appear to be strike No. 3.
The Republican Party needs only blame itself under the leadership of Pat McSweeney.
It is incredulous that the party would consider replacing Warner, the most popular senator in this state and one who possibly may chair the Armed Services Committee (obviously a position that could greatly benefit Virginia) with two prior losers.
I admire Mr. Warner for not blindly following a group but instead standing by his principles. Let's not forget that polls showed that Coleman's withdrawal from the race would have benefited Robb, not North.
The Republicans in this state are working for the Democrats by continually using poor judgment and blindly following the questionable leadership of Patrick McSweeney.
