WILLIAM F. WALKER

William Frederick ``Pete'' Walker, 54, formerly of the 1500 block of Elbow Road, died Wednesday in Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.

Mr. Walker was born in Norfolk and was the son of William J. and Margaret Williams Walker of Chesapeake. He was a 1958 honor graduate of Great Bridge High School and received his engineering degree as a 1962 honor graduate of Virginia Military Institute, graduating second in his class. Later on he received his master's degree from Old Dominion University, graduated from the Armed Forces Staff and Command College, Union Gap, Pa. in 1979 and from the U.S. Army War College in 1986.

Mr. Walker was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and had retired as a Lt. Col. after 30 years of service. He was currently employed in a classified area of the State Department, Washington, D.C.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Chesapeake, where he had served as a Deacon prior to moving from the area.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Elbow Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Chip Roberson will officiate. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Chesapeake, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
