GUY B. PUGH

Guy Burtram Pugh, 82, of the 600 block of Benefit Road, died Wednesday in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mr. Pugh was born in Old Trap, N.C., and was a lifelong resident of the Hickory section of Chesapeake. He was the husband of the late Nellie Wilson Pugh and the son of the late Linwood B. and Margaret Mitchell Pugh. Mr. Pugh was also predeceased by his daughter, Carolyn Pugh, and his two brothers, Buddy Pugh and Ronald Pugh.

He was the retired owner and operator of the former Pugh's Shopping Center off Oak Grove Road in Chesapeake. He was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, also in Chesapeake, and a charter member of the George W. Wright Masonic Lodge (NU)346, Norfolk.

Survivors include his two daughters and three sons-in-law, Vivian Pugh Neal and her husband, Landis, Jeanette Pugh Welton and her husband, Eugene, all of Chesapeake, and Carroll Palmore of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Margarite Dunn of Woodville, N.C., and Bernice Wilson of Chesapeake; one sister-in-law, Anna Faye Pugh of Norfolk; six grandchildren, Terree Neal, Vickie Williams, Robin Tucker, Carroll Palmore Jr., Wesley Palmore and Steven Welton; eight great-grandchildren, Raven Tucker, Neal Williams, Jordan Tucker, Ali Williams, Michael Palmore, Meredith Palmore, Morgan Palmore and Page Welton; his companion, Laura Furgeson; two of his closest and dearest longtime friends, Bill Thompson and Norman Cox, and his nurse, Rhonda Sumner.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Tom Mercer. Burial will be follow with Masonic rites in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and at other times at 504 Caleb Drive, Chesapeake.
