JULIA D. HARDY

Julia Dorsey Hardy, 72, departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1994, in John Randolph Hospital, Hopewell.

A native and lifelong resident of Surry County, she was the daughter of the late Zack and Susie Mae Dorsey. She was a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church and retired from Smithfield Cleaners, where she worked as a presser for over 20 years.

She is survived by two sons, James Wallace Dorsey of East Orange, N.J., and Douglas Mack Dorsey of Surry; two daughters, Delores Dorsey of East Orange, N.J., and Linda Dorsey of Albany, N.Y.; three sisters, Josephine Thompson of Spring Grove, Catherine Tynes of Smithfield and Bertha Dorsey of Madison, N.J.; a brother, Michael Dorsey of Suffolk; a sister-in-law, Willie Dorsey of Smithfield; two brothers-in-law, James Thompson of Spring Grove and Arcelious Tynes of Smithfield; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Nebo Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Baltimore, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Ray Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 5 p.m. today at Poole's Funeral Home, Surry, and a wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Hardy will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Family and friends will assemble at 1280 Burnt Mill Road, Surry, by 12:15 p.m. Saturday.
