Mary Bell King Britt, 84, of the 2800 block of Marlboro Ave., a retired barber, died Nov. 21, 1994, in DePaul Medical Center.
Mrs. Britt was born in Whiteville, N.C., and was the widow of Master Sgt. Charles Britt. She retired 10 years ago after 50 years. She was a member of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, the Deaconess Board, Pastors Aid Club, Mason and Holmes Missionary Circle, John Riddick Senior Citizens, Eastern Star, and United Order of Tents, Evangeline Tent (NU)573.
Survivors include six daughters, Ethel Louise Britt Kaiser of Little Rock, Ark., Orbina Wilson of Washington, D.C., Helen Clay, Berlean Harris of Camden, N.J., Mae Blowe, Caroline Hasberry of Norfolk; two brothers, Style King of Norfolk and Louis King of Charlotte, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Shirley Payton Best; and three god-children, Antonia Nathaniel, Allen Staton Davis and Dianne Mueller.
Aunt Maebell, as she is lovingly known, touched many lives. If other did likewise, this world would be a much better place.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, 1057 Kennedy St., Norfolk, with the Rev. Collins officiating. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
